Introduction & Background

Please introduce yourself and share a bit about your background.

Hi, I’m Sektor Voltage; I’m from Rafael Calzada, a small town in the Greater Buenos Aires area. I have released four LPs so far: *Amor a mi lista negra*, *Animal en extinción*, *Oscura noche del alma*, and *En otra dimensión*.

What's your musical origin story?

I remember when I was three years old: my parents would fight, and I would take refuge by singing songs my mother had taught me — while crying — so I wouldn't have to hear the shouting. It was an escape to another universe.

What were the driving forces or pivotal moments that inspired you to pursue music?

Later, as a teenager, I felt connected with dark, rage-filled music (Marilyn Manson; Korn; Ministry; NIN; KMFDM). Transforming what happens to me into a song is what truly motivates me. The alchemy, the creation—transforming anger or sadness into something artistic is profound, magical, spiritual, and therapeutic. I couldn't live without it.

Musical Identity

How would you describe your style of music?

My sound isn't groundbreaking or grandiose; it reflects how music sounds these days. Thanks to technology, we can sound however we want. Yet, in this modern age of abundant access and tools, I worry about losing the human element. So, I try to represent that hybrid state we inhabit before becoming entirely artificial—as well as the hybrid nature of daily life: we’re surrounded by gadgets, machines, screens, and smog, yet we remain flesh and blood. I like the idea of ​​painting that landscape: a human rocking out on the guitar while the machinery keeps running. I’m not overly obsessed with the sound itself, since it has been done for over forty years. That’s why I love the aesthetic of the late '70s and '80s—the era when this concept began to take shape—though I appreciate all eras and music history in general.

How is your personality reflected in your work?

I am a deeply introspective and reflective person. I am on a constant quest; the answer lies within. I strive to reflect a soul (my soul) that is reflective, sensitive, and critical—one that moves back and forth across time and space.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

It’s random. It might start with a riff, a rhythm, a chord progression, a synth sound... the important thing is to record or capture everything as soon as it arrives. I follow the philosophy of Al Jourgensen or Keith Richards—we’re antennas—so the key is having something ready to record when that inspiration strikes.

What was the inspiration for that release?

I live happily alone. My inspiration comes from my own feelings, thoughts, and dreams; Carl G. Jung; the subconscious; cold, desolate landscapes; social relationships; the Bible; life and death; the afterlife; the unknown; the occult; mysteries; war; philosophy; and Coldwave and Darkwave music in general. I´ve felt connected with Lebanon Hanover, Selofan and She Past Away. I really love those acts. I realized that X-mal Deutschland's rhythm drives me a lot.

Since I had been making EBM and industrial music, I was angrier. During shows, I’d thrash around wildly, scream, and throw myself onto the floor. Then, I suffered an injury during a performance and fell into a depression. Instead of quitting, I decided to create something more personal and subdued—something, ultimately, more authentic. I remembered how, early on, I used to record my ideas on an acoustic guitar using a Portastudio—like Kurt Cobain. I decided to return to those roots. So, I gathered all the songs that had emerged that way—ones I’d previously set aside—along with some new ones; they all came out of nowhere and were captured in just a few hours. That’s why the LP has that title.

What challenges or unexpected moments did you encounter during the writing/recording process?

The f*cking mastering… all by myself.

During the recording, I really felt myself, and this is the style that fits me properly. The more authentic, the better. I discovered what I think is a good way to sing for me.

Promotion & Engagement

What strategies do you find most effective for promoting your music?

Playing live. Go to events; talk with producers. Making videos, Public Relations agents (Sinistra PR).

How do you engage with your fans online and offline?

Loving the audience; hearing them; thanking them; being humble.

What upcoming promotional activities or releases are you most excited about?

I am playing live now around Buenos Aires, with this latest LP and a few unedited songs. Don´t think about the future, just living the present, playing the game, you know. Jeje.
