David Aimone
David Aimone, an artistic alchemist, creates images and musical compositions that hold a subtle, creative power. He comes from a musical family, and was classically trained in voice and composition but more informally was a guitarist and songwriter as well as a recording studio engineer in his 20’s. After releasing a CD of songs in 2004, David went on a musical sabbatical to focus on photography and hand-made prints.
In 2022 David returned to music from a completely different approach. He built a small home studio based around a Roli Seaboard MPE controller. Not being a keyboard player, he still found the Seaboard extremely expressive, almost as expressive as the Fender Stratocaster he’s had since a teenager. Using the Seaboard and his Strat (mostly with an eBow), he began creating instrumental musical pieces from a place of improvisation, allowing his expressiveness to guide him through trial and error.
As he learned the technology and the keyboard, David was able to refine pieces, still mostly compositions of improv origins. He also incorporates elements from his classical training, and likes to highlight harmony and dissonance into his experimental/ambient/classical pieces. His albums have unifying aspects within and between releases, as well as characteristics not often found in the “ambient” world of music.
Each album is truly a sonic journey through texture, form, dynamics, harmony, dissonance, and much more.
