The Kind Hills
A Simple Life (EP)

In July 2024 The Kind Hills initiated an ambitious digital “single a month” project, which are now all compiled on this Simple Life EP/CD out of the South African Subjangle label. The project offers a brand of slacker, jangly indie-pop melody that possesses the sort of instantaneous cool that is only usually found in bands that refuse to take themselves too seriously and genuinely enjoy what they do.
With members in far-flung places such as Brisbane, Perth, Lucerne, London, LA, and Hong Kong now fully explores the wonders of the remote writing concept that the pandemic made a “proper thing (read the wonderful article/interview by themusic.com.au, which explains the full process here) and seems to use the The Kind Hills as a vehicle to ensure that they still stay connected as a group. As such, A Simple Life is replete that warm glow of true friends that courses through the release .
This feeling is abundant in tracks such as Vegans and Woke, when the spry, sardonic lyrics are skilfully disguised amongst the Milky Wimpshake-style gift for writing the perfect slacker laced pop song in a vibe that feels like the band is inviting you into their “in joke” confidence.
