Hero No Hero
Pacific Standard Time (extended edition)

Smack this metaphorical Pacific Standard Time piñata with your favourite musical stick enough times and any number of jangly indie and twee-pop goodness will tumble through your aural senses.

This is hardly surprising considering the fine jangle-pop pedigree of an act that includes Ken Aki (Starry Eyed Cadet, Falconet) and Gretchen DeVault (The Churchill Garden, The Icicles, The Blue Herons etc) are the masterminds behind this Hero No Hero act.

Continuing with the whole piñata thing for no other reason than I want to revel in my own overtly clever allegory (not!), whack one reveals the opening double salvo of Just To Be With You and Gentle Breeze and the jangly indie-pop meets twee-pop of 80s/90s of female fronted acts acts such as Talulah Gosh, Go Sailor and Cub replete with a feminine strength that is drawn from the depths of absolute cool.

Subsequent whacks, thwacks, kerpows, and any other 60s Batman onomatopoeic sounds you can muster, reveal the Allo Darlin style chiming jangly smoothness of Undertow, Sitting on a Cloud, and My Time, whereas Missing Tooth offers itself as the best BMX Bandits track that the great Duglas T. Stewart never finally penned, such is its mixture of twee-perfection and C86 playfulness.

A truly superb debut album that is infused with wonderful huge swathes of jangly indie and twee-pop yesteryear and now available from Subjange on CD for the first time with added bonus tracks.
