Zenxith
From The Corners Of My Cold Room

This is the 12th album titled ‘From The Corners Of My Cold Room’, this album was recorded in Zenxith’s house from March through till late June 2024. The cover art is of the old 14th century Marmion Tower in North Yorkshire, picture taken in 1896. This album was literally recorded in my room so that’s where the title comes from, 14 tracks just like the last one, although not as soft as Cooling Tower was. This album ranges between dark/haunting tracks & gentle & also energetic tracks. A haunting touch to the album with sprinkles of light thrown in, a strange atmospheric feeling. Tambourine & shakers as usual, a few love songs also as usual, a couple acoustic tracks. This is lofi indie pop at its finest, a unique sound I’m finding hard to explain, the lead guitars really stand out and practically define the album sound. DIY music is this & a true staple for what DIY actually means, especially in 2024 when the word “DIY” is thrown around so carelessly.

The guitars are covered in chorus & reverb throughout the entire album, jangle jangle jangle! Drum machine drums. Post punk & indie pop combined with my own unique style added. Some are haunting while others are twee/soft. Some gentle female backing vocals that were later recorded on a few of the tracks by American singer Yvonne Allen who was also on the last 2 albums, boy girl twee! The backing vocals really top the album off, my deepish vocals mixing with her soft light vocals, this adds more atmosphere to the album.

You can clearly tell it hasn’t been recorded in a studio, everything is done by me in my room! No band, no studio, no label, no real backing whatsoever, and in these terribly dull times marketing has proven time and time again that it is more efficient than the actual music itself, but I believe the music should always be the most important, so this is a staple for an album that has no backing. I mix and master and engineer everything etc etc myself as usual, this is not overproduced, it’s very lofi. Exasperated soft vocals. The CD of this album is issue 6 on my own label Salt Mine Records, which is self funded. Don’t expect this to sound like the Shop Assistants or The Flatmates, because it doesn’t, it sounds like Zenxith!
