For over nine years, the Janglepophub blog has documented the ever-changing energies of the janglepop scene and its adjacent genres. From the pre-pandemic Melbourne dolewave movement and the ethereal wave of jangle-gaze that defined lockdown listening, to a renewed fascination with Sarah Records-inspired sounds, and now the current surge of lofi, jangly power-pop led by artists such as Mo Troper, Tony Molina, Sharp Pins, Smug Brothers, and Hurry, the evolution continues.
Amid these vibrant shifts, a lesser-known act quietly celebrates a major milestone: twenty years of pioneering the lofi power-pop sound, reminding us that while trends may come and go, true innovation stands the test of time.
Matt Addison’s project, Mythical Motors, has been releasing infectious, crushed lofi power-pop from his Bandcamp base since 2006, building a discography so extensive it’s difficult to keep track.
