Isla de la Alegria
FROM VOLCANIC ISLAND TO CONCRETE - X314 BRIDGES THE CANARY ISLANDS AND THE BERLIN-DETROIT AXIS
When the raw aesthetics of the Motor City collide with the uncompromising intensity of Berlin basement nights, a sound emerges that takes no prisoners. With his latest release on Delete-Everything, X314 pays tribute to the genre's roots and proves that techno in its purest form—hardware, sweat, and soul—is timeless.
X314's sound is a love letter to the era of drum machines and hardware synthesizers. DE03 is thus a statement. Heavy kicks, searing hi-hats, and atonal textures form the backbone of the tracks.
Although the tracks are deeply rooted in the underground, their origins lie far from dark concrete walls. The pieces were created during his annual retreats to the Canary Islands, specifically Fuerteventura. X314 transforms the raw, immense energy of the island's volcanoes and the sea directly into peak-time, hard-groove techno. The track "Calderon Hondo"—named after one of the largest volcanic craters—reflects the seething heat beneath the surface and its archaic volcanic rock formations. An unstoppable march across the main floor. "Corralejo" translates the rough surf and whipping winds of the coast into driving hard-groove rhythms. "Road to Antigua" is a hypnotic journey through the island's barren, Mars-like landscape—dusty, direct, and relentlessly forward-moving.
X314 doesn't just deliver tracks; he provides the fuel for nights where time stands still and only the beat matters. The transatlantic axis between Detroit and Berlin has a new, volcanic connection point.
