This song was originally started by me in late summer of 2021, back when I was still using the Lycan alias, following a falling-out with a good friend of mine, who I'd known for a few years up to that point. In the original concept, "Part of Me" was to be a sad progressive house track with lyrics and no orchestral elements. However, as the idea evolved and went longer in the WIP phase due to being put on the backburner as other projects took priority, I eventually scrapped the concept of vocals, added in more of an orchestral sound to the off-drops to give it a more personalized touch rather than the very DJVI-inspired first draft (specifically, inspired by "Fallen Angels"/"Devil In Disguise"), and incorporated inspiration from some of the future house tracks I'd discovered in that time; overall though, I think that delay proved to be for the better, as I feel the final product is vastly superior to my original draft, and I hope you all find it enjoyable as well!
