Please introduce yourself and share a bit about your background.

I'm a 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist and producer from Seattle. I've been releasing solo works, playing in bands, and making music as much as I can for as long as I can remember.

Tell us a bit about yourself. (Location, artist name, the works!)

I live in Seattle and record in my bedroom studio. My name is Henry Sachs, and I've decided to start releasing my work under my real name because I'll be doing it anyway—better to just be upfront about it. I've been a bit of a bottom-feeder hermit in the local scene, but I work hard and release things all the time, so this is my way of advocating for that.

What's your musical origin story? (When did you start? What inspired you?)

I've been in love with music for my entire life and was lucky enough to have instruments I could get my hands on when I was a little kid. Before I knew how to play guitar or read lyrics, I would write songs and hum them in my head, hoping I would remember them and be able to figure them out by the time I got to a keyboard. I didn't care if I wasn't great; I just wanted to pretend I was John Lennon! I think what inspired me was seeing how much fun those guys were having in those old live performances. It was just so raw, and some chord changes and melodies really hit you in your soul, even if you're just a kid.

What were the driving forces or pivotal moments that inspired you to pursue music?

I used to want to be a movie director, but then I realized that's pretty much an impossible thing to do. However, it's pretty easy to just make an awesome song by yourself and then show it to your friends. I don't think I believe in "pursuing" music; it just got to a point where I was doing music way more often than I was doing anything else.

How would you describe your style of music?

The only way I would describe it is D.I.Y. — Do it yourself!

How is your personality reflected in your work?

Hmm, I'd say writing a song is the only time that I'm not super anxious and kind of just don't think at all. So that's up to other people to decide if it's an accurate representation of my personality—I have no idea, I just make it and go with the flow.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

The only constant in the process is I have to be super down to make something. It's different every time. Sometimes it starts with an old idea that's been brewing, and sometimes it just all comes out of nowhere. That's what's awesome about it; I have no idea what I'm doing and no idea what the process is.

What is the name of your latest release?

"Negative Lang" is my latest release!

What was the inspiration for that release?

I was in the mood and felt like making a record!

What challenges or unexpected moments did you encounter during the writing/recording process?

I used to drive myself crazy and stay up for days making albums because I wanted to go all or nothing, but this time I definitely tried to refrain and just take it easy after working on a song. It felt steady and good.

What strategies do you find most effective for promoting your music?

Finding people I connect with and making sure those people hear it!

How do you engage with your fans online and offline?

My fans are kind of just my friends, so I just hang out with them and maybe we eat a burger or something.

What upcoming promotional activities or releases are you most excited about?

Well, I've got this great idea for a Facebook message to send to my grandpa to get him to listen to the album. That's probably what I'm most excited about.

How can folks contact you (socials/email/websites etc.)?

People can contact me through my Bandcamp page with the Contact button!
