Parajekt
Parajekt is the duo of Viennese musicians Bernhard Hammer (Elektro Guzzi) and Matija Schellander – a project that has evolved slowly and organically over the course of more than a decade. Their self-titled debut album will be released in January 2026 on Palazzo Recordings, the label run by Hammer and Elektro Guzzi.
Their music is created entirely with electronic instruments: drum machines, samplers, modular synthesizers, effects and a reel-to-reel tape machine. The tape acts as both a constraint and a catalyst – its distinctive sound and mechanical precision shaping the production process in unique ways. The recordings become the first layer, a kind of sonic score, which is then overwritten, expanded and refined using live performance and dub-inspired studio techniques.
Drawing inspiration from electronic beat music, musique concrète and noise, Parajekt merges sonic complexity with rhythmic immediacy. On stage, the duo turns the act of production itself into a performative gesture – the studio becomes a live instrument.
Their first concert as a duo in January 2024 marked a turning point and the completion of the long development phase leading up to their debut album. Parajekt embodies a music that embraces time, reduction and depth as essential creative forces.
