Nicola Olla

Nicola Olla (b. 1987, Sardinia, Italy) is a multidisciplinary artist working across music, composition, filmmaking, photography, and illustration.

As a musician and composer, he has performed for over 20 years across Europe with projects including Charun (Third Eye Records), Drought (Avantgarde Music), Lera (Subsound Records), December Hung Himself (Personal Escape Records), My Own Prison (Blacktooth Music), BillyBio (AFM Records), We Are Building Ruins, Dedalus in Bloom, and many more, covering experimental, post-rock, ambient, hardcore, and metal.

His solo path began with the EP "Ω", written for World Press Photo 2024 in Sinnai, an introspective work of piano, electric and twelve-string guitars, ambient textures, and improvised layers. In 2025 he returned to score the exhibition with “APÓLEIA”, a longer piece rooted in raw improvisation and deliberate imperfection. In March 2026 came “Dissolution”, a 13-track album on personal and social introspection, the individual’s place in contemporary society, and the dialogue between the human mind and cosmic space. It expands his ambient language with cinematic and atmospheric elements.

In October 2026, Olla contributes once more to the World Press Photo Exhibition at MuA (Sinnai, IT) with his fourth album: a sixty-minute ambient record in three 20-minute movements. Warmth and roughness, intimacy and detachment unfold through slowly evolving sounds that invite deep listening. It can be heard in the museum’s halls from 9 October to 9 November, and on selected digital platforms.

Olla has contributed to over 20 studio releases in roles ranging from performer and sound designer to
mixer, artwork creator, and print developer. Alongside music, he works as a filmmaker, photographer, and
illustrator, extending his storytelling into visual form.
