Jackal Pack Attack

The Great Abandonment

The Great Abandonment is Jackal Pack Attack’s sophomore album, continuing the bestial narrative introduced in Carnivora and Kingdom Omnivora. This album tells the tale of Kingdom Omnivora, a Pangäan citadel where carnivores and herbivores once lived in harmony—now standing on the edge of collapse as the balance of nature begins to shift. Glimpses of this world—its intricacies, inhabitants, and beliefs—are revealed through numerous perspectives throughout the album, but it primarily follows the journey of a carnivore-turned-herbivore who roams Pangäa in search of new meaning, both spiritually and physically. Sonically, The Great Abandonment blends melodic, ambient, and progressive songwriting with grueling guitar chugs, hardcore vocals, and forlorn melodies, accentuating the ebb and flow of conflict within Kingdom Omnivora. Tracks such as Twisted Horns offer echoes of oneness and tranquility, while songs like Lies From the Wolf and Megachiroptera counterbalance those peaceful tones with aggressive, no-holds-barred soundscapes—providing something more virile, vulnerable, and insecure.
