Ex-Hyena returns this Friday, February 20 with “Dark Lights,” the cinematic and emotionally charged opening track from their upcoming album XX YOUR LOVE, arriving via Re:Mission Entertainment. The single offers the first look into the album’s shadow drenched world.

“Dark Lights” pushes the duo’s sound and themes forward, digging into the long arcs of human connection, the complexity, power, confusion, communication, and deep reward found in relationships and marriages. It also stands as a celebration of Ex-Hyena’s own identity, embracing the strange, the intimate, and the beautifully off center.

The track opens with swirling synths and buzzing textures before erupting into massive, club shaking beats. Its atmosphere lands somewhere between Depeche Mode and Low, refracted through Ex-Hyena’s late night aesthetic. The band calls it one of their most powerful creations yet, anchored by a chorus charged with emotional voltage:

“Come into the lightning, come into the night,
can’t control the energy, can’t control this life.”

The lyrics echo the song’s core themes, collapsing into the night, letting love collide, and letting our “dark lights” shine.

To expand the single’s universe, Ex-Hyena has crafted a late night remix of “Dark Lights,” joined by additional remixes from Weyward and a reimagining of “Nocturnal Lullaby” by Pleasure Policy. Together, they push the track into new, shadow soaked territory.

“Dark Lights” sets the emotional and sonic tone for XX YOUR LOVE, marking a bold new chapter for Ex-Hyena and an immersive entry point into the album’s exploration of connection, identity, and the strange beauty of the human experience.
