since i first started writing songs when i was probably 15 years old i wanted my debut album to be a pure, acoustic-guitar-driven album made in a lo-fi, diy fashion, where i'd do the writing, producing and mixing. this idea was heavily inspired by the solo work of one of my favourite musicians at the time, John Frusciante, and it came back to life when i fell in love with Bon Iver.

"songs of youth & innocence" sums up the last 15 years of my life and is filled with nostalgia, melancholy and longing for something long gone. i believe these songs are the most vulnerable i've ever been, be it both in music and in life. i was trying to capture an intimate feeling, a communication between me and the music. the themes range from simple love songs, to coming to terms with loss, self-doubt and even death.

and why the name "songs of youth & innocence"? i tried to capture the mood of the album in a few, simple words and these felt just right. also, the more i'm thinking about it, it might've been subconsciously inspired by William Blake and his "Songs of Innocence and Experience" as well as by "Youth", a film by Paolo Sorrentino, which is one of my favourites.
