My name is Danila Kozyrev. I'm a 28-year-old multi-media artist of Belarusian descent. I'm a writer, painter, and musician. I suffer from schizophrenia and am an addict in recovery.
Where are you located?
I currently reside in Greenville.
What is your artist's name?
Immortal Ebt
How long have you been writing music?
I've been writing music for about 17 years.
What inspired you to start playing and making music?
The video game guitar hero inspired me to buy a guitar and try to learn for myself when I was about 11.
What were the driving forces or pivotal moments that inspired you to pursue music?
I always loved music and it's something that came naturally to me. Over time it became something more similar to breathing than something I had to think about.
How would you describe your style of music?
It varies from album to album but I try to keep an essence of experimentation in my music.
How is your personality reflected in your work?
My music has been described as weird and psychedelic which I guess comes from my mental illness and general perception of life.
Describe your creative process when you write new music.
It varies from album to album but usually I write the music that comes to me and over time it adds up to an album. Sometimes starts with a sample, or an original composition and it goes from there. There's really no set process. It depends on the song/album.
What is the name of your latest releases?
Out through matisse's window
What was the inspiration for that release?
I wanted to combine mf doom and gorillaz type hip hop with more avant garde/classical music.
What challenges or unexpected moments did you encounter during the writing/recording process?
Its always a lack of money. I paid violinists and cellists to play sheet music I wrote for the album. I could only afford one piece to be made and had to use VSTs for the rest.
What strategies do you find most effective for promoting your music?
Getmusic.fm is a lifesaver. I actually don't know how to promote my work to save my life.
How do you engage with your fans online and offline?
People hit me up on twitter or email me. I respond and try to be nice. I usually have trouble being social but it feels good to have someone appreciate my music to the point they want to reach out. Always puts a smile on my face.
What upcoming promotional activities or releases are you most excited about?
Nothing as of yet.
How can folks contact you (socials/email/websites etc.)
