Read MorePlease introduce yourself and share a bit about your background.
I'm Benjamin, 38 years old (pushing 39), New Zealand born.
Tell us a bit about yourself. (Location, artist name, the works!)
I'm based in Auckland living with my fiancée and 5 month old son. I'm an actor and musician. Musically I go by the name, "Arcane Synthetic." I'm keen to try more photography and painting. I'm a comic geek, and enjoy playing chess.
What's your musical origin story? (when did you start? What inspired you?)
I've played in bands across genres. I find it hard to gel with bandmates. During COVID I was bored. I often trip on my own thoughts and imagined a time traveller sent to report on the human condition. I learnt Ableton Live then made my debut album entirely on my own.
What were the driving forces or pivotal moments that inspired you to pursue music?
I come from a family of musicians. I consider myself a musical person feeling I have plenty to offer.
How would you describe your style of music?
Experimental, alternative, post-punk, goth, industrial, dark ambient.
How is your personality reflected in your work?
Arcane Synthetic's character's just better version of myself.
Describe your creative process when you write new music.
I'm neurodivergent so never suffer creative block. I love trying new things endeavouring to create music like I've never heard.
What is the name of your latest releases?
"A New Era & Nothing More: Part I"
What was the inspiration for that release?
How Arcane's story continues.
What challenges or unexpected moments did you encounter during the writing/recording process?
My latest album consists of collaborations. I've grown from the experience. The creative process affected my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I've healed from the experience. I'm proud of that. Art should heal the creator and their audience.
What strategies do you find most effective for promoting your music?
Word of mouth.
How do you engage with your fans online and offline?
Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and social media. Offline in person.
What upcoming promotional activities or releases are you most excited about?
On April 17th I turn 39 years old and "A New Era & Nothing More: Part I" will release on Bandcamp.
How can folks contact you (socials/email/websites etc.)
