Rick Maltese

Rick Maltese, from Toronto, Canada, is an accomplished pianist, composer, author and singer/songwriter. His thirty five years of teaching experience includes piano, vocal coaching, song-writing and innovative approaches to learning. He has an eclectic repertoire drawing from classical, jazz, blues, popular, country, folk, global music and more.

As a dynamic pianist and composer, he is sought after, performing in diverse bands, corporate events, weddings, private functions, music festivals and community celebrations. He also has a long history in Musical theatre and Choir ensembles such as being a Musical Director for the iconic Royal York Hotel. As a film composer, he brings fresh, inventive and original ideas, both improvised and scored.

He was a soul stirring pianist on the grand piano at the exquisite 1920s The Gatsby room, Windsor Arms Hotel. He is now the featured pianist for an upscale dining and live Rat Pack music experience at XII Old Fashioned Restaurant in downtown Oakville.

Rick Maltese is soon releasing his new book “Guide to Total Musicianship.” It is a comprehensive breakdown of the essential skills needed to become an all round musician. It includes 10 chapters covering all the building blocks—from beginner foundational skills such as ear training, sight-reading, and rudiments, to more advanced skills such as improvisation and composition. (see Book link, for further details).

In the last few years he has released three albums: Not in a Paradise, I’m Hooked Completely and Della Bella Della, featuring some of Canada’s finest musicians (see Recordings & Musicians page)
