ERNEST STRAUHAL
Ernest Strauhal 許志仁 (b. 2000, San Francisco) works in sound, video, and printmedia. Drawing references from environments both real and imaginary, his studio practice incorporates landscape, gesture, and chance.
Strauhal’s automatic drawings, sound works, and video artworks are all tied together through an intense focus on meditation and the interplay between concentration and dissociation. His sound works and video artworks are made through gathering datasets of pictures and recordings and are manipulated using digital audio processing along with generative adversarial networks to create enveloping visual and sonic environments.
Strauhal’s works have been exhibited at Root Division Gallery (San Francisco), Links Hall (Chicago), soundpedro (Los Angeles), Mac Fine Arts (Emeryville), and UMA Gallery (Oakland). Strauhal received his B.F.A. at the California College of Arts in San Francisco, California and is currently an M.F.A. candidate in Printmedia at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
