My very first ever body of work is available to download / stream now on Bandcamp! :)

I've wanted to make music and put it out for years now. To have an artistic statement out in the world means a lot, and I always wanted that - but I'm awful at making melodies. I can't sing. But over the last few years, ambient music stuck out to me - specifically, mallsoft.

Mallsoft is a child of the vaporwave genre, and evokes nostalgia through corporate, retail sounding music - but wrapped in a shell of nostalgia and memory. That's what I try to evoke across this EP - using plugins to make my chosen samples sound nostalgic, and older - which, to be fair, they are.

The voices and ambience you hear across tracks 1, 3 & 4 are sampled from a YouTube channel I stumbled across. They're taken from a break this person took with their friends at a Centre Parcs resort, the entire basing of this project. The videos this EP takes audio from are shot on an old camera, and I love the textures and atmosphere created by them. If you want to check out the originals, each track uses the YouTube "slug" identifier, so go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[any track name] and you'll find it.

The music sampled are tracks from Fridrik Karlsson's album Chillout Heaven. I found this album by Shazaming an old Centre Parcs advert, which led me to the whole album - so the EP as a whole has roots to Centre Parcs in both its musical and atmospheric aspects.

Finally, the title of the album is the What3Words code for... a location. I don't need to spell out everything here, but... take a look for yourself.

Thank you to everyone who gives this a listen. This is more for me than anyone else, but if you do listen, that's so cool - and please leave an AOTY/RYM review if you want!
