Backslider: Side A
The “prequel” to my second studio album, Backslider. The hip-hop influences that trickled in during the album's sessions led me to experiment with interpolations and samples for the first time. In the end, I had 13 songs, nine of which were fully original compositions, and the remaining four I knew I couldn’t release commercially due to licensing but still felt essential to the overall Backslider narrative. So I packaged those together as a free pre-release. A mixtape EP, if you will.
