Time in Two
Time in Two explores musical time as a spatial structure. The work is based on a coordinate-like perception in which the line between the left and right ears functions as an x-axis, while the flow of time becomes a z-axis. Through two contrasting states, progression and suspension, the work observes different perceptions that appear within the flow of time.
A piece focusing on temporal progression. Sound sequences and repetitions are treated as a continuous structure, similar to a road, where elements change gradually in response to sound. The work originates from small everyday curiosities, such as imagining what it would be like if a structure encountered during a walk were to produce sound.
Suspension is a piece focusing on temporal stillness. It observes how states such as progression and stoppage, or continuity and interruption, appear within the flow of time.
