We live our lives imagining scenes and scenarios – in a way making up films that will never be realised, with each of us playing some part in them. Bunny’s Lament is a love letter to these impulses, scoring music for characters that have never existed, imaging the way they might react to situations by turns familiar, dramatic, impossible… A woman’s heart breaks, a house in the dark calls to a young man’s fears, roads are taken, roads are left behind, decisions are made and consequences faced up to. Taking inspiration from European and Japanese independent cinema, the pieces in Bunny’s Lament explore conventions of film scoring. The sounds are large, orchestral and layered, dark and melancholy, bright and hopeful. An imaginary soundtrack for fragmented lives, for our own stories and the films we never make.
