Brooklyn-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Jesse & The Spirit's new goth-inspired, experimental trip hop single, "s a n d," and its accompanying video by James Werick, soundtrack a journey through an interdimensional portal opened in a New York resident's basement that plays like a lost episode of Unsolved Mysteries only viewable in fever dreams. A brief two minutes, the track blisters over a degraded trap beat with half-spoken raps, emotive screams and squelching noise synths. An intense marriage of hip hop and black metal, this experimental monster ventures into rarely traveled musical territory for an exciting and unique listen, one that’s still somehow danceable and nightmarishly catchy.
