Ballad of Rupert Pupkin

“Ballad of Rupert Pupkin,” the first track from the forthcoming full-length album ‘Not Interested’, explores ego and identity caught between delusion and self-loathing. It satirizes rap culture's self-importance through the story of an artist torn between grandiose ambition and deep insecurity. Inspired by Rupert Pupkin—the archetype of the desperate entertainer who confuses private fantasy with public destiny and how the need for validation can become its own trap.

It arrives in what feels like the Rupert Pupkin era: a culture crowded with influencers, artists, and online personalities desperate to be seen, affirmed, and treated as significant. The track turns traditional rap bravado into an absurdist, self-aware portrait of an underdog MC performing for the walls and laughing at his own “greatness” while exposing the loneliness, depression, inflated ego, and real need for connection beneath the posturing.

The production is a collage of several distinct beat flips ranging from early 70s soul-pop, jazz, lo-fi synths, drum samples and outdated software that outline the sonic pallet of the forthcoming album “Not Interested” slated for release in November.
