Drug Searching Dogs
Zwinger

The dogs are on the run! Drug Searching Dogs are a stroke of luck for Vienna and for all people and animals looking for immersion, catharsis, and ecstatic live concerts. Fleabag (guitar), Borderline Collie (drum machine) and Riotweiler (vocals & no-input mixer) present a thunderstorm of metal riffs, electronic noise and distorted beats and vocals. The trio improvises vigorously with bleeps, glitches and any kind of distortion: Krrrrrrrrrrrrcchhhhhh, Shhhhhhhsszzzzz! They describe their music as an exchange of raw energy, harsh noise metalcore or idiosyncratic canine core. DSD shows are about the experience, about touch and about collectively freaking out in a world that is far too rigid. With lots of electronics, but: »It's punk rock after all«, the doggies emphasize, baring their wretched canines. DSD don't only stand for fun, as their lyrics prove. Because Dadaism or not - there is a serious political message: Free all animals, free all plants, free all people! Canines of the world, unite! After many live shows, demo tapes and their debut release on Free Christian Ringtones, the time has come after exactly two years of the bands existence: Drug Searching Dogs are releasing their longplayer »Zwinger« digitally and on vinyl via Interstellar Records (INT063).

Anyone who has experienced a DSD live show will not forget it, whether human or dog!
They sound way mangier on stage than on their recordings, but for »Zwinger« they didn't record everything cleanly and well-behaved with headphones but recorded doggy style at SchloR - an alternative house project with a studio. As soon as you put the needle on the record, you can hear Riotweiler drooling into the microphone, and you can literally smell the musty cellars and punk pubs without ventilation where they used to play. The lyrics are now also easier to understand, partly because you can now read them in the gatefold. With a can of beer or a cup of tea, you can now concentrate fully on the music - and surrender unconditionally to the noise intoxication: DSD love deep listening!
