Dino DiMuro

St. Ignatius Glowed

Originally a track on side two of my indie cassette "She's A Climber" which was released in February 1989, making it over 37 years old! I'm saying it's the 35th Anniversary Remix because it looks better.
The original track was recorded mostly on my new (at the time) digital Kawaii synthesizer with maybe some help from a Casio. The drums were definitely from my Casio MT-320, which were great then but don't hold up in 2026!

I always loved the juxtaposition of crazy, Zappa-like passages at the start and the more melodic section toward the end, and wanted to bring that to the fore. I was also honored to have one of my favorite singers, Matte Martin, redo the vocal parts with my original tracks still present but pushed to the back.

The song is based on an incident at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, where a rival school came late one night and painted the statue of St. Ignatius Loyola, though I don't know what color.
