TAKE CONTROL was recorded between December 2024 and August 2025. This album represents my effort to break away from cultural norms, my own musical habits, and the constant worry about whether people will like what I create. It’s a search for purity in creativity, an attempt to let go of perfectionism, reconnect with the flow state where music happens, and remember what music is truly about.
I turned off my brain and just played, embracing my inner curiosity, which I felt I had lost touch with. After my first year at Queen’s University in Kingston, I grew tired of playing only the notes on the page. I wanted to step outside the rigidity of theory and away from the metaphorical life of “playing the right notes.”
This album is more than a body of music; it’s a personal statement on creativity, life, and the constructs we build for ourselves. ~ Aidan Siegele
Guidelines for Listening:
1. Don’t expect a single genre — this record moves between structure and chaos.
2. Play it loud enough to catch the small details, but not so loud you miss the space between them.
3. Let the textures wash over you — sometimes it’s about mood, not melody.
4. Try listening in one sitting; it’s more of a journey than a playlist.
5. Headphones or good speakers recommended (don’t listen on your phone).
6. Don’t overthink it — half the fun is letting the sound guide you.
7. If it feels strange or disjointed, lean into it. That’s the point.
