THE PAST IN PROGRESS
Yearning for days of old creates a cycle of regurgitation — past decades chew on themselves in the crucible of nostalgic worship. Unrealised futures from the past leave decaying echoes like ghosts haunting our present. The future has been cancelled for so long that the past has become our new tomorrow, as those with the levers of power attempt to rewrite history in their image. We must resist this attack on our story, in hopes of restoring a continual present where humanity exists in sustainable homeostasis with its environment, rather than in the myth of endless exponential growth.
Growing up in the 2000s and 2010s we inherited nostalgia from older generations. We'd listen to "Together in Electric Dreams", a song that believed in an infinite love preserved by technology. A hopeful future that never came, preserved in all its optimism reverberating through time.
