Les Antonymes

De branche en branche

Now, Les Antonymes makes unclassifiable music. Each session is different from the last, sometimes even varying within the same session, from one improv to the next. Nonetheless, some kind of magic happens that gives each occurrence its particular tone, creating a coherent microcosm from seemingly disparate elements. The thing is: Antonin likes to record everything and then spend time mixing the best parts to share with an audience. Usually, each release corresponds to a particular session, with little to no overdubs and no substantial reorganisation. This is once again the case with "De branche en branche". It was recorded on August 13, 2023, at Antonin's studio—an old screening room from the sixties. This session featured Frederic Aerden on processed field recordings, Philippe Van bellinghen on cello and piano, and for the first time, Nathalie Vanderlinden on spoken word. The result is four experimental ambient tracks, infused with existentialist poetry and sometimes underpinned by haunting beats.
