Snowdrift

"Snowdrift" is the first song on Ken Wohlrob's new experimental / ambient / electronic album, Forgotten Music.

"Forgotten Music? What is forgotten music? Forgotten by whom? When the title popped into my head it stuck. In the same way the germ of a good musical idea hangs on like a tick. Even before I knew there was going to be an album, I liked the concept of “Forgotten Music.” It seemed to sum up the ethereal quality I wanted this experimental music to possess. That it would feel both familiar and alien. Like an old language that is part of your DNA but you have no idea how to speak it at first. These compositions are instinctual, they come from somewhere that I can’t pinpoint. But because they’re not built around a band or live performance, they are quickly forgotten once they’re recorded. I never revisit that initial performance. I played through the 13-minute guitar part of “William” in a single take and that was it. I didn't compose “Snowdrift”or “The Naked Floor,” I just followed where they led me. The result (I hope) is a collection of music that draws you in, pulling you within the layers, to some internal place that you’ve stored away in your subconscious, even though each piece should feel unique and different to anything you’ve heard before."
