After creating this particular soundscape, I realised that I had unknowingly been thinking of a hike I did in the Japan Alps last year when I traversed the Kurobe-Tateyama Alpine route with my family in the northern autumn. The sights and the magnificence of the places along are difficult to describe. Our hut was Raichoso, near Murodo, over 2,500m in the sky 100m from an active volcano.
The soundscapes create a rhythmic ever evolving meditative pattern, the sounds of soft-padded mallets to make you calm and focused without making you commit to listening.
The sounds begin softly with minimal tones, then gains pace as you find yourself settling into whatever it is you are paying attention to, be that hiking from Murodo Terminal to the lodge Raichoso, working from home for a wage, concentrating while you solder electronic equipment, finalise your lathe work on that boutique sculpture, or perhaps reading a book on the couch. Some say that it provides guidance when trying to solve a tricky task, if you want a serene environment with which to focus.
A review from Satoshi from Sasazu: "After 5 minutes I was somehow transfixed, it seemed to draw me in, compelling me to hear every fine detail and variation. By the time it ended I had finished antiquing my end table, time had vanished and I was at my destination".
