Postmodern Machine
Airplane Mode
~~Airplane mode is a state in which the device does not receive or transmit wireless signals~~
Airplane Mode will lull you into déjà vu. Postmodern Machine’s fourth album recalls and freshens up garbled tones of the past. Warm and retro, the moods run the gamut from quietly hopeful to resoundingly resolved. The track names he invents, as ever, bring some levity to an otherwise serious craft.
With every sonic landscape on the album there also comes a video (higher quality available on YT just sayin’) to lose yourself in. Carefully crafted, you’ll glimpse into tiny corners of Mexico and Ontario where Postmodern Machine captured honest and quotidian moments, then manipulated them, using techniques similar to musical layering.
Besides the highly portable *TINY STUDIO THING* and other electronic beauties, Airplane Mode features piano, bass guitar, ukulele, and voice. It was created over the course of 19 months, with nods to formative influences like DJ Shadow and King Tubby; smoky analog nostalgia with heavily hip-hop influenced drums.
Let yourself sink into a seamless blend of human and machine music.
~~The name is really a misnomer~~
