A cult Christmas classic from Nosferatu D2.
Nosferatu D2 were Ben and Adam Parker, two brothers from Croydon, UK. The band formed after the dissolution of Tempertwig and existed from 2005 to 2007. In this short lifespan, the duo found fans at BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), Radio X (John Kennedy) and the NME, as well as Los Campesinos!, who Nosferatu D2 supported.
The band’s unreleased debut album “We’re Gonna Walk Around This City with Our Headphones on to Block out the Noise” was picked up as Audio Antihero’s first release in 2009, and its belated release earned the Parker brothers an international cult audience.
This long abandoned record was raved about by Drowned in Sound, Pitchfork, The Line of Best Fit, DIY Mag, and the story of their unconventional legacy was detailed in-depth for broadcasts for BBC 6 Music and Public Radio International (“The World”).
In more recent years, "It's Christmas Time (For God's Sake)" has become a minor seasonal hit via Alternative holiday playlists.
Though Nosferatu D2 never reformed, the Parker brothers worked together again as The Superman Revenge Squad Band on 2013’s acclaimed “There Is Nothing More Frightening Than the Passing of Time” album. In 2023, the siblings reunited in the My Best Unbeaten Brother trio, who released 'Pessimistic Pizza' debut in via Audio Antihero Records in 2024.
Praise for Nosferatu D2:
“Some kind of alchemy, not to be repeated – a mix of tension, bitterness, and a way with lyrics that no one has, or will, match – 9/10.” – DROWNED IN SOUND
“Your record collection is incomplete without its inclusion.” – THE LINE OF BEST FIT
“This record perfectly depicts disillusionment with the place you live or the relationship you’re in, but are completely unable to bring yourself to get away from. Brothers Adam and Ben Parker– Adam whose drumming is up there with any drummer I’ve ever heard, and Ben whose lyrics are perfect in their hopelessness. This has finally seen release as a fan, Audio Antihero, took it upon themself to put up the money to release the record. A noble pursuit and one that, if it’s successful, will see us as the winners.” – PITCHFORK
“Well this totally fucks up my provisional list of Albums of The Year…Nosferatu D2 are one of my favourite bands of all time. Some of the best, most hateful lyrics you’ll ever hear.” – GARETH CAMPESINOS! (LOS CAMPESINOS!)
“An emotional rollercoaster laced with blaspheme and romantic despair – 8/10.” – DIY MAG
“As giddily hypnotic as they are unsettling.” – NME
“A lo-fi masterpiece – 9/10.” – THE DIGITAL FIX
“When Ben Parker snarls lines like, ‘Every band I ever loved has let me down eventually, the worst album will always be the last one’ on ‘A Footnote,’ it raises an ear-pleasing smile not least as this is Nosferatu D2’s first and last album released posthumously two years since the band split. If you feel let down however, then you’re never going to be happy, so away with you and buy some records by Turin Brakes, everybody makes mistakes after all – 4/5.” – THE SKINNY
