Cardinal is a sonic journey from original to traditional, experienced through the 20-stringed Hindustani slide guitar accompanied by percussion, beats, and poetry. Cardinal is a livication to the Hindustani slide guitar and the musical traditions of the world, especially Bharat India. The album opens with a sung poem, an invocation to life itself and a leveling of the ground on which we stand; bells and chanting call our attention to the present and state the intention of the journey: "For the benefit of all, for all of time."
