In their own words:

"The album itself is kind of about me having to kick my own ass into action. I struggle really badly with getting stuck in my own head when it comes to stuff like imposter syndrome and the perceived quality of my music. I had been kicking around some of the songs on this EP since I wrote Digital Soul (Windows 98 Maze was originally going to be track 3). It was really a struggle to figure out what to do after that EP and the idea that I couldn’t put together another project was really starting to get to me so I started writing an EP basically as a letter to myself going 'what’s wrong with you get it together, if you’re so worried about getting left behind by your peers then get up and do something to get their attention'. So I sat down and started writing about that insecurity basically as a way to get past it and go 'yeah maybe this is happening but it’s my fault and I’m going to fix it myself instead of moping about it'. I always write instrumentals first so that I can make lyrical themes line up which is why you’ll see some consistency across the project with themes like feelings of abandonment, inadequacy, and a general fear of falling into obscurity leached into every song."
